FAQ
Simple answers about Tesla Wall Connectors, charging speeds, adapters, installation and home electrical requirements.
Get a QuoteCharging Levels
How the different charging speeds workWhat is Level 1 charging?
Level 1 uses a normal 120V household outlet. It works, but it charges an EV slowly.
What is Level 2 charging?
Level 2 uses a dedicated 208/240V circuit. It charges much faster and is the type Volaris installs for home charging.
What is Level 3 charging?
Level 3 usually means DC fast charging. It is the very fast charging you normally see at public charging stations.
Why is Level 2 better for home charging?
It is much faster than a normal outlet without needing the expensive equipment used for public DC fast charging.
What charger does Volaris install?
Volaris installs Tesla Wall Connector Level 2 charging equipment for residential EV charging.
Compatibility & Adapters
Which vehicles and plugs can workDo I need a Tesla to use a Tesla Wall Connector?
No. Compatibility depends on the Wall Connector model and the charging port on your vehicle.
What is the Tesla Universal Wall Connector?
It is a Tesla home charger that supports NACS and includes an integrated J1772 adapter for many non-Tesla EVs.
What are NACS and J1772?
They are two common EV plug types. NACS is the Tesla style connector. J1772 is used by many other EVs.
What if my EV needs an adapter?
That is okay. We check your vehicle first and make sure you know which compatible connector or approved adapter you need.
Can I use the charger if I switch EV brands later?
Often, yes. Choosing the right Wall Connector now can give you more flexibility if you change vehicles later.
Can I charge two EVs at home?
Yes. Multiple Tesla Wall Connectors can be set up to share available electrical power when needed.
Installation
What your home needsDoes a Tesla Wall Connector need its own circuit?
Yes. It is hardwired to a dedicated circuit sized for your home and charging setup.
Do I need a 60 amp breaker?
Not always. A 60A circuit can support the charger's maximum 48A output, but the Wall Connector can also be set to lower power.
What if my electrical panel does not have enough power?
You may still have options. The charger can sometimes be set to lower power, or the home may need an electrical upgrade.
Can the Wall Connector be installed outside?
Yes. Tesla Wall Connectors are designed for indoor or outdoor installation.
Where should the charger be installed?
Usually where the cable can easily reach your EV and the electrical wiring can be run safely and cleanly.
How long does installation take?
It depends on the home. A simple installation is faster. Long wire runs or panel work can take longer.
Everyday Use
Charging speed and daily useHow fast can a Tesla Wall Connector charge?
Up to 11.5 kW and 48A. Your actual speed depends on your vehicle and your home's electrical setup.
Will my EV charge overnight?
For most normal daily driving, Level 2 charging can replace the energy you used during the day while you sleep.
Does the Wall Connector use Wi-Fi?
Yes. Wi-Fi is used for setup, updates and supported monitoring or control features.
Can I schedule charging?
Yes. Scheduling can be useful if your electric plan has cheaper charging hours.
Is it okay to leave the car plugged in overnight?
Yes. The vehicle manages how much power it accepts and stops charging based on its battery and charge settings.
Electrical & Cost
What affects power and installation priceHow much does installation cost?
It depends on the home. Distance from the panel, wiring, circuit size and any needed electrical upgrades can change the price.
Will charging an EV raise my electric bill?
Yes. You will use more electricity, but you are also replacing some or all of your gasoline use.
Does the Wall Connector always use 48 amps?
No. 48A is the maximum output. The charger can be configured for lower power when needed.
Is Level 2 worth it if I do not drive much?
It can be. Even light drivers get faster charging and more flexibility when they need to recharge quickly.
